Day of Prayer and Service
Mar 3, 2021 |
Each year during Lent, we engage the parish in a Day of Prayer and Service, an event that sends parishioners out to serve across the city. This year, we are providing a variety of ways to serve our community, some in-person and some from home. Please note that all in-person opportunities will follow practices recommended by the CDC and the diocese.
Communities in Schools, San Antonio at Crockett Academy is St. Mark’s Bread of Life Grant Partner. We are now in our 2nd 3 year partnership with CIS – Crockett, which is located only 2 miles from St. Mark’s. This year, Day of Prayer and Service volunteers can serve outdoors on the school grounds, or sign up to sponsor or pack Family Activity Kits, which Crockett families will take home and do together.
One of our newer Outreach Grant partners, Magdalena House provides a safe, nurturing transitional home for mothers and children fleeing abusive situations. This year, Magdalena House wants to focus on Finding the Joy. We want to add to their joy with donations of individual Easter baskets and outdoor games that the entire community can enjoy. Sign up to donate outdoor games, sponsor an Easter basket, or help assemble Easter baskets at St. Mark’s.
Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM)
A long-time partner of St. Mark’s, CAM’s mission is to share the love of Christ by providing immediate assistance and encouragement to people in crisis. At this time, CAM is in need of on-site volunteers to do some cleaning/maintenance work, as well as sort through donations. Other opportunities to help CAM in their mission include packing Snack Packs from home, and donating sewn or purchased reusable face masks.
SAMMinistries Transitional Living & Learning Center
SAMMinistries TLLC is currently home to 35 families working to overcome homelessness. Our Day of Prayer and Service outreach to SAMMinistries has always included food. Since we cannot serve them in person this year, we will deliver frozen meals that their community can use when in need. Sign up to sponsor a meal or assist with delivery.
