About the event

Join us for a special literary event featuring acclaimed author Stephen Harrigan in conversation with James Dennis.

Stephen Harrigan is the author of fourteen books of fiction and nonfiction, including the award-winning novels The Gates of the Alamo and Remember Ben Clayton, as well as the sweeping history of Texas, Big Wonderful Thing. A longtime writer for Texas Monthly and an accomplished screenwriter, Harrigan lives in Austin.


In 2025, Harrigan released two new books. Sorrowful Mysteries: The Shepherd Children of Fatima and the Fate of the Twentieth Century (Knopf) was named by Esquire as one of the "35 Best Books of the Year" and praised as "a stunning, addictive, fascinating work of nonfiction." His other recent release, An Anchor in the Sea of Time (University of Texas Press), is a collection of personal and reported essays exploring memory, history, and identity.
