About the event
Music from St. Mark’s presents Ars Lyrica Houston on Sunday, January 14 at 4:00 pm. Their program is entitled “Fugal Games” – a quintessentially Baroque afternoon featuring works by G.P. Telemann, excerpts from J.S. Bach’s “Art of the Fugue,” and chamber pieces from “Musical Offering.” Featuring Matthew Dirst, harpsichord; Elizabeth Blumenstock, Baroque violin and viola; Stephen Redfield, Baroque violin; Sydney ZumMallen, Baroque cello; and Colin St-Martin, traverso. This program celebrates the release of Dr. Dirst’s latest book — Bach’s Art of Fugue and Musical Offering (Oxford University Press, December 2023) — and a recording of the complete Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1 (Acis, November 2023). Music from St. Mark’s is offered free of charge to the community through the generous support of the St. Cecilia Guild of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. 315 E Pecan St - free parking available.
