About the event
Save the date for a time of great food, learning, and meaningful conversation at the St. Mark’s Bookstore Luncheon on May 15, 2025 at 11:00 am. The guest speaker this year is a Nashville-based Professor of English at Belmont University and Author of Seasons of Wonder and Afoot and Lighthearted, Bonnie Smith Whitehouse.
She calls herself a pilgrim not only because she loves to walk, wander, and contemplate, but because when she read Annie Dillard’s Pilgrim at Tinker Creek at the age of sixteen, her life was forever changed.
She is a pilgrim who believes in crossing borders with her writing and teaching, and especially loves to trespass across:
The territorial lines we’ve drawn around areas of knowledge
The categories we’ve used to designate human beings as “creative” or “not-creative”
The barriers we’ve established between the brain and the body.
