About the event

July 29th marked 50 years of women’s ordination to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church. After years of working to get General Convention to affirm and authorize women’s ordination to the priesthood failed, eleven women were ordained priests by three retired bishops in the Church of the Advocate in Philadelphia. These courageous clergy became known as the Philadelphia Eleven and pioneered the way forward for The Episcopal Church. In honor of this year’s anniversary, we will be screening the powerful documentary entitled “The Philadelphia Eleven” on Friday, November 15th. Discussion led by The Rev. Elizabeth Knowlton and The Rev. Ann Fraser will follow and dinner will be provided. Please register to let us know you are coming. Childcare is available upon request.
